The realistic way to
replace multiple teeth
Tooth implants can restore both individual teeth and multiple missing teeth. They’re made of a metal ‘root’ part and a porcelain ‘crown’ part, with the metal rod placed first, and the crown fitted once the gum has healed.
Here in Boroughbridge, we can offer two ways to treat several missing teeth. Implant-retained dentures are a fixed solution for a set (or both sets) of missing teeth. Anchor points are placed around the mouth and the dentures are fastened on. Alternatively, an implant-supported bridge can be used, where a false tooth is anchored between two dental implants, allowing for a row of replacement teeth.

At our North Yorkshire practice, even though the procedure is considered surgery, it’s minimally invasive, and a local anaesthetic ensures pain and discomfort are easily managed. Over-the-counter pain relief can be used in the days afterwards.
Though different people heal at different rates, it’s safe to say it will take a few months for the implant to heal and adhere to the jaw bone. Once this happens, the crown can then be placed at our Ripon dental practice.

1. Consultation
Most people are eligible for dental implants, but a consultation is an important first step as it allows us to assess your mouth, teeth and gums and decide whether additional treatment is needed (such as a bone graft).
2. Treatment
Tooth implants are placed in two appointments. The first one places the metal root, and the second, the crown. A temporary crown can be worn during healing and, of course, we offer local anaesthetic during the surgery.
3. Aftercare
Many patients experience some mild swelling and tenderness after the post is placed, however over-the-counter medicines can usually help manage this. In addition, dental implants have an extremely high success rate.
